7shifts SMS Notifications

Notifications can either be sent by push notification (recommended), email, or SMS (limited). If you choose SMS notifications as your preference, you will receive a text message on your mobile device for: 

  • Two-factor authentication
  • Welcome invitation
  • Schedule published
  • Schedule updates
  • Changes to shifts (shift pool approvals, and shift trade approvals)

Additional mobile notifications can be enabled with push notifications. Check out our list of supported notifications for more details.


⚠️ Prerequisites

To successfully receive SMS notifications, please ensure that you have (1) entered your mobile number into your account settings, and (2) be situated in one of the following countries:

Hong Kong (not mainland China)
Iceland

If you reside outside the mentioned countries, you can choose to set up push or email Notifications instead.

Enable SMS Notifications

Mobile notifications can either be sent via SMS or push. For the best experience, we encourage you to switch to push notifications. They are instant, reliable, and will ensure that you never miss an important update.

  1. Log in to the web app.

  2. Head to Settings (or, your profile icon) > My Account. 

  3. Toggle SMS  to enable notifications via text message:

  4. Set your preferred notification type for each notification type:

    Mobile notifications: receive real-time alerts on your device.
    Email notifications: receive updates via email.

    ⚠️ Please note the Supported SMS notifications.

    ⚠️ If you are disabling SMS notifications, head to your mobile app and enable push notifications to continue receiving mobile notifications. 


Troubleshooting

⚠️ Additional notifications can be received with push notifications. To make the switch, head to your notification settings in the mobile app.

Here's what you can do if you suddenly stop receiving SMS notifications: 

    1. Review your My Account settings to ensure that your phone number is valid.

    2. Reset your mobile number on file by re-entering it and clicking Save.



    3. Review your Notification preferences on the mobile/web app to see which notifications are enabled or disabled.

  1. The device (iPhone or Android).
  2. The device's Operating System (Software Version). Typically found in device settings > General > About.
  3. The mobile app version. This can be found in the app by tapping the 3 horizontal lines and scrolling to the bottom.
