What's New: July 2026

Welcome to your July update! Our team has been hard at work refining 7shifts to work even better for you and your staff. We’re thrilled to roll out these latest upgrades, built to streamline your operations and sharpen your management toolkit.

Keep an eye on this page as it regularly gets updated with new and exciting developments!

Nevada Labor Compliance

The updated Nevada labor compliance rules allow restaurant managers to track complex daily overtime using a rolling 24-hour window that automatically matches state regulations. This update calculates daily overtime based on your team's specific clock-in times and hourly pay rates to keep your business accurate and compliant.

  • You can configure your state compliance settings by navigating to Company Settings > Labor & Compliance and selecting Nevada under the Jurisdiction tab.
  • The system tracks daily overtime using a rolling 24-hour window that starts when an employee clocks in, instead of resetting at midnight.
  • Daily overtime automatically applies to employees who work more than 8 hours in that rolling window and earn under $18 per hour.
  • Weekly overtime continues to apply at 1.5 times the regular rate for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek, regardless of your employee's hourly rate.

Salary Allocation across Locations

You can now split a salaried employee's wages across multiple locations by percentage, with a daily allocation setting to control which days the salary is distributed across. All changes are logged in Pay History for a full audit trail.

  • Set custom percentage splits per location (e.g. 70% to Location A, 30% to Location B) or use the Split evenly across locations button to divide equally.
  • Select specific days of the week for daily allocation to control how salary costs are distributed across your schedule.
  • Schedule future-dated allocation changes. They appear with an Upcoming status in Pay History until they take effect.
  • Available to all plans. Admins and managers with Can view wages and Can edit employees permissions can configure salary allocation under Team > Employees > [Employee Name] > Wages and payment.

Multi-Day Shift Creation on Mobile

You can now select multiple days at once when creating a shift on the 7shifts mobile app, matching the web scheduling experience and saving you time on the go. Managers can build schedules quickly from their phones without entering identical shifts day by day.

  • Choose all the days a shift applies to before saving your changes.
  • Review any employee scheduling conflicts, like unapproved availability, directly on your screen before the shifts are saved.
  • Available to all users with permissions to create and manage shifts. Available on all plans.

Update Employee Emails

Managers can now update employee email addresses directly, making managing your team a smoother experience. To keep your account secure once the email is updated, it will end the employee's session and lock them out until a new invite is sent and accepted.

  • You can update unaccepted invite emails on web and mobile, while accepted email updates must be done on the web app.
  • Updating an active employee's email ends their current session and locks the account until they accept the new invite.
  • Employees who belong to multiple companies must have their managers at each company update the email for them.

Employee Reactivation Changes

Reactivated employees now rejoin your active team list immediately so you can schedule and manage them without any operational delays. All reactivated users must receive and accept a new invitation to regain access to their account. While their invitation is pending, a 'pending invite' icon appears next to their name on your active employee list.

  • All reactivated users must accept their new invite to log back into the system.
  • Reactivated team members appear as active immediately so you can add them to schedules right away.
  • New invitation links expire after 5 days and require a resend if they are not accepted in time.
  • New users must fully accept their invitation before they can access the company account.

Minor Labor Compliance Updates

The updated Minor Labor Compliance system now supports state-level rules and multiple school calendars to keep your restaurant compliant. These updates help you avoid labor penalties by applying local curfew and hour restrictions directly to your schedule.

  • Set up multiple school calendars to accurately track varying schedules across different school boards and automatically assign new minor employees to a default calendar.
  • View instant compliance warnings and specific jurisdictional rules directly on the schedule.
  • The Minor Labor Compliance feature is currently available only to customers in the US and access may require an upgrade from your current 7shifts plan.

Custom Role Colors are back!

When creating or editing a role under Settings, choosing the custom color option opens a fully functional color picker supporting RGB values and an eyedropper tool. If you select a color that is too dark or too light, the system automatically adjusts the brightness so text remains clear in both Light Mode and Dark Mode.

  • You can pick from 20 pre-set options or select a custom color by using the eyedropper and RGB inputs.
  • Your schedule and report PDF exports will accurately display these custom role colors without any missing selections.
  • Your existing role color selections remain completely unchanged unless you explicitly decide to edit them.
  • Navigate to Settings > Locations, Departments, & Roles > Roles > Click on the pencil icon pencil-icon.png to make edits to a Role.
