Welcome to your January update! Our team has been dedicated to making 7shifts even more powerful for you and your staff. We’re excited to share a fresh batch of upgrades designed to simplify your operations and level up your management tools.

Mobile Dashboard - Who's working blocks

Stay on top of your daily operations with real-time insights right from your phone. Our updated 'Who’s working' blocks on the mobile dashboard give you a clear, instant look at your team’s status throughout the day.

  • Instantly see the number of employees who are currently On, Overdue, Upcoming, Out or on Break. 

  • The blocks act as a quick shortcut—just tap any category to see the full list of names and shift details for that group.

  • Monitor live punch data as it happens, whether you use 7punches or a synced POS integration.

  • Spot overdue shifts or "no-shows" immediately so you can reach out to staff or find coverage right away.

Clair On-Demand Pay 

Provide your team with financial flexibility at no cost to your business. With Clair On-Demand Pay, employees can access a portion of their earned wages early through the 7shifts mobile app. Clair handles all the funding and repayments, so your current payroll process and reporting remain exactly the same.

This feature is being rolled out in phases and may not be available to all accounts at this time. You will receive an email notification when your business becomes eligible.

  • Clair manages all the funding, compliance, and repayment, so you don't have to worry about any extra administrative work or changes to your payroll.

  • Your staff can advance up to $100 at a time to help cover immediate costs like gas or groceries between paydays.

  • It is completely free for your business to offer, and it's free for employees too, unless they choose to pay a small fee for an "Instant" transfer.

  • Because these are private transactions between Clair and your employees, you aren't notified when someone takes an advance, and you aren't responsible if they can't pay it back.

  • You stay in the driver's seat—you can easily enable or disable this feature at any time right from your 7shifts account under Settings > Add-ons.

Employee AI Importer 🪄

Speed up your account setup with our new Employee AI Importer, specifically designed to help trial accounts get up and running in minutes. This AI-powered tool eliminates manual data entry by automatically pulling staff details from your existing documents. Simply upload your file, review the information, and instantly build your team roster so you can start scheduling right away.

  • This feature is currently available exclusively for trial accounts to make your initial onboarding as seamless as possible.
  • You can upload your team in almost any format, including photos (JPG, PNG), PDFs, or spreadsheets.
  • Our AI automatically finds and fills in names, emails, and phone numbers so you don't have to type them manually.

  • You'll have the chance to review all the information and assign roles/departments before anything is finalized.

Pay Schedule Frequency 

Updating your Pay Schedule in 7shifts just got easier! Admins can now adjust the Pay Schedule frequency directly within the web app to better align time clocking data with business needs—without losing any previous punch data.

  • You can now switch between weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly schedules in just a few clicks. 
  • The system handles any gaps between your old and new schedules automatically, so every punch is accounted for.

7shifts Payroll Users: If you have already run at least one payroll, you’ll need to contact 7shifts Support to update your frequency. Simply start a chat and let us know your new desired frequency and payday!


Schedule Enforcement with Square POS 

You can now ensure staff only clock into Square when they're scheduled to work. In turn, this allows you to control and reduce labor costs.

Here's how it works: Shifts are automatically synced to your Square POS. Staff clock in/out on Square. Square will then validate whether that employee is scheduled to work and can clock in. If they are scheduled to work, they will be allowed to clock in.

Mobile Dashboard - Request Blocks 

We've made managing your Employee requests easier! Critical requests are now displayed in Request Blocks right on your main screen. This new, prioritized view ensures you can easily address the most important actions on the main screen of the mobile app. 

At the top of the mobile Manager Dashboard, request blocks will display all pending Employee requests. Selecting any block takes you directly to the approval screen for the specific request type.
