Web App Navigation Updates

Navigation menu updates simplify how you move around 7shifts by replacing some side menus with top horizontal tabs.

• Access subpages within Time Off, Availability, and Shift Pool directly from top tabs.
• Easily switch between Locations, Departments, and Roles using the new top navigation under Settings > Locations, Departments & Roles.
• Find Onboarding on its own dedicated page under Team.
• Use the new 'Import' action button on the Employees page to import employee data.

Automated Course Reassignment

Admins and Managers can now automate Employee Training retakes directly within Course Settings instead of manually tracking scores and renewal dates.

• Set a passing grade percentage and a maximum attempt limit to automatically trigger course retakes when a learner scores below the passing mark.
• Schedule recurring renewals on a monthly or yearly interval to keep certifications up to date across your team.
• Learners automatically receive email notifications detailing why a course was reassigned.

• Track updated training progress in the course and employee reports, which now display pass/fail results, remaining attempt counts, and upcoming renewal timelines.

AI-Powered Lesson Creation and Content Refinement

Admins and Managers can now build and refine 7shifts Training materials using AI-powered tools. Upload up to three reference documents at once with custom prompt instructions to quickly generate new lessons, refine your lesson text directly within the editor and generate quizzes.

• Upload up to three documents (up to 20 MB total) simultaneously, such as an SOP and a menu guide, to automatically generate lesson drafts.
• Add a custom prompt during creation to give specific instructions on how the AI should format the lesson.
• Select Ask AI within the lesson editor to expand, shorten, or rewrite text content before saving.
• Turn content page text into quiz questions automatically, including multiple choice, matching, or sorting order formats.

Clair On-Demand Tips

Clair On-Demand Tips automatically grants eligible team members access to advance a portion of their owed tips through the 7shifts mobile app with zero administrative effort or cash float needed.

• Clair On-Demand Tips is automatically enabled for Tip Management customers who already have the On-Demand Pay add-on enabled and meet eligibility requirements.
• Keep your payroll process, tip payouts, and reporting exactly as they are while Clair handles all advance originations and automatic repayments on payday.
• Offer employees instant wage and tip access for free via standard 1–3 business day transfers, or an optional instant transfer fee of $4.99.

7shifts Payroll - Employee Onboarding Update

We've updated the Employee Onboarding review page for 7shifts Payroll customers to help managers find and process onboarding packages faster.

• 

  Search by employee name to jump directly to a specific person.

• Filter by business entity or EIN for multi-entity accounts, or sort by package status.
• View actionable package statuses and next steps directly in the Status and actions column.
• Click anywhere on an employee row to open their onboarding package immediately.

7shifts Payroll - Updates to Payroll Run Experience

The recently updated Payroll Run page gives 7shifts Payroll Admins greater visibility and control over pay periods with streamlined filters, collapsible employee details, and clearer financial previews. 

Note: We are gradually rolling out the updated Payroll Run experience to 7shifts Payroll Admins over the coming weeks. If you don't see these changes in your account just yet, hang tight—they're on their way!

• 

  Filter your view using new tabs for All, Contractors, Blocking Payroll, and For Review to focus on employees needing attention for overtime, time off, or exceptions.

• Expand or collapse employee rows individually or all at once to review detailed wage breakdowns and time off calculations.
• Hover over tooltips to view dollar amounts for overtime, including qualified overtime under OBBBA rules.

DayCheck by SpotOn - In Beta

DayCheck by SpotOn gives your team fast access to their earned tips through a digital wallet, bank transfer, or SpotOn Card, removing the hassle of cash payouts. Available exclusively for restaurants using SpotOn Express or SpotOn Restaurant POS with 7shifts, calculated tips automatically sync to DayCheck, manager payouts are approved in the SpotOn Dashboard, and 7shifts records what was paid so your payroll reporting stays accurate.

Qu POS Integration Update

You can now include service charges in your net sales calculations for Qu POS within 7shifts. This option allows you to align your sales figures and tip pool calculations directly with your POS system data.

• Go to Integrations > My Integrations > Qu POS Integration Settings.
• Open the Sales tab and toggle on Include service charges.
• Note that enabling this setting impacts all 7shifts sales calculations, including tip pool contributions. Close your current tip period or wait for it to end before turning on this feature to prevent calculation discrepancies.

Employee Training Updates

7shifts Employee Training now features expanded mobile permissions, a streamlined review process, and automated compliance tools to keep your team on track.

• Review and approve employee task sign-offs responses directly on mobile and use the Needs Review tab on web to quickly see what needs your attention. 
• Upload PDFs, write text prompts, or pair both together to have AI create clear training materials for your staff.
• Prompt employees to confirm they are clocked in before opening training content, helping you record mandatory training time accurately. This Labor & Compliance setting is automatically enabled for accounts with California or New York set as their labor jurisdiction, or toggle it on manually from Company Settings or the Training page.
