How to Update Employee Wages and Weekly Salaries

In 7shifts, Admins and Managers have the flexibility to update employee wages and weekly salaries for both past and future dates.

Prerequisites

⚠️ Mangers will require the Can view wages and Can edit employees  manager permissions to update an Employee's wage or weekly salary.

⚠️ Wages and weekly salaries can only be adjusted up to 30 days in the past.

⚠️ Annual/yearly salaries are not supported. Please calculate the correct weekly amount before entering it.

⚠️ Effective Wage Date will not be available if you have Wage-Sync enabled with your POS integration

Set a wage or weekly salary change for a future date

You can proactively enter a new wage or weekly salary for an employee if the rate is to change on a future date.

       
    1. Head over to Team in the left navigation bar:

    2. Select the specific Employee's profile to edit it and head to the Wages tab where you'll see the Employee's current wage(s) or weekly salary. 

       

    3. In 7shifts it is only possible to set a weekly salary, not an annual salary. Be sure to calculate the appropriate weekly amount. If setting a weekly salary, select it from the Wage Type dropdown menu:



    4. Next to the wage or weekly salary you would like to adjust, enter the new wage or weekly salary and select the date this will take effect.

       

    5. Be sure to click 'Save.' 

      On the chosen date, all new shifts created for this Role and the employee will have the new wage or weekly salary applied.

       

    6. You can remove or edit the wage or weekly salary change prior to the effective date by clicking the 'Garbage Can' or 'Pencil' icon.

       


Set a wage or weekly salary change in the past

If you have already created shifts for an employee before entering a wage or weekly salary or forgot to set a new wage, you can use the Effective Wage Date function to change all shifts and punch wages up to one month in the past.

⚠️ Third-party data or already processed payroll information will not be affected when changing previous wage or weekly salary dates. 

     
  1. Hover over to Team in the left navigation bar:

  2. Select the specific Employee's profile to edit it and head to the Wages tab where you'll see
    the Employee's current wage(s) or weekly salary.

    Next to the wage or weekly salary you would like to adjust, enter the correct wage or weekly salary and select the date this took effect:

     

  5. Be sure to click Save.

     

  6. Navigate back to the Schedules or Time Clocking page to see the new wage or weekly salary applied to the historical shifts.
