Wage Sync

Wage Sync is an automation that imports employee hourly rates from your connected POS integration directly into 7shifts. By establishing your POS as the "Source of Truth," you eliminate manual data entry and ensure your labor cost calculations, financial projections, and payroll reports remain accurate.

Things to Know

Wage Sync functions as a one-way import from your external integration into 7shifts to maintain a single source of truth for labor costs.

  • 7shifts fetches updated wage data from the connected integration every 60 minutes.
  • Once enabled, the POS becomes the primary authority. Any manual wage updates made within 7shifts will be overwritten by the POS data during the next hourly sync.
  • 7shifts acts as the receiver; wages must be updated in the connected integration to reflect in 7shifts.
  • This feature currently supports hourly wages; salaried roles must still be managed within 7shifts.

To ensure a successful sync, the following settings must be active:

  1. Actual Labor must first be enabled within your integration settings.

  2. You must have Wage-Based Roles enabled in 7shifts if your employees have different rates for different positions (e.g., $15 as a Server, $18 as a Lead).

  3. Every 7shifts Role must be mapped 1-to-1 with a corresponding Job Code in your POS.

Supported POS integrations

7shifts supports wage syncing for various point of sale systems. Use the list below to verify if your POS is supported for automatic wage synchronization.

7shifts-led POS integrations

The following 7shifts-led integrations support wage syncing:

Aloha, Brink, CAKE, Lightspeed (U-Series), Micros (3700), Micros Simphony (Oracle), Positouch, Qu, Revel (Shift4), SpotOn, Squirrel, Toast, and TouchBistro.

Enable Wage Sync

Follow these steps to activate wage automation for a specific location:

  1. Log in to the web app as an Admin.
  2.  Navigate to Apps & Integrations and select My Integrations.
  3. Click on the active integration you wish to configure.
  4. Select Settings next to the desired location.
  5. Click the Employee Data tab.
  6. Toggle Wage Sync to on.
  7. Click Save.

After enabling this setting, it may take up to 60 minutes for the first set of wages to appear in employee profiles.

Troubleshooting wage discrepancies

Why aren't my wages appearing?

If wages are not appearing or are incorrect in 7shifts, verify the following in your connected POS:

  • Verify that the integration's Role ID is correctly mapped to the corresponding 7shifts Role. If a role is "Unmatched," the wage cannot sync. You can also use Integration Warnings in Time Clocking to identify unmapped roles.

  • Ensure the employee has an hourly rate assigned in the POS. Fields left blank or as "zero" may cause the sync to skip that profile.

  • Confirm the employee is not set to a Salary pay frequency in the POS, as these are ignored by the sync.

Can I choose which employees sync?

No. Wage Sync is a location-wide setting. If enabled, it will attempt to sync wages for all hourly employees mapped between the two systems.
