Notifications for Admins & Managers


As of May 29, 2024, 7shifts SMS notifications will be limited. Click here to learn more. The purpose of this change is to improve your 7shifts experience and provide a more reliable way to stay connected.

While SMS notifications will be removed, you can continue to receive mobile notifications through push notifications (recommended) or email.

We kindly ask that you review your current notification settings and that you remind your team to enable push notifications.  They're instant, reliable, and will ensure you never miss an important update.

This article will outline how you can review any incoming notifications and update your notification preferences within the 7shifts. You can customize your notification preferences within your Account. For example, if you don’t want to receive mobile push (recommended)/SMS, you can change your notifications so that you only get emails.

Manage Your Notification Settings

Notifications can either be sent by push notification (recommended), email, or SMS (limited). Use the tabs to change your viewing preferences through the mobile or web app:

  1. Log in to the mobile app and tap on the More menu icon > tap Notification Settings:

  2. Toggle on Push Notifications (recommended) to receive push rather than SMS/text:


    Here's an example of a push notification:

  4. To disable or enable a notification, simply tap on the 'Mobile' or 'Email' icons. If they appear in orange, it means they are enabled:

  5. Head to your device settings to enable notifications.

    exit the 7shifts app > Settings > 7shifts > Notifications > Allow Notifications.
    exit the 7shifts app > Settings > Notifications > App Notifications > toggle the switch next to 7shifts.

  6. To disable SMS notifications, login to 7shifts on a web browser, hover over your profile picture > My Account > select the Notifications tab > disable SMS:

Review Your Notifications

You can review your received mobile (Push or SMS) notifications in the Notification Center on both web and mobile. This allows you to track recent updates about schedule publishes, time off requests, availability requests, and shift pool requests, and more (dependent on your personal notification settings). Use the tabs to change your viewing preferences within the mobile or web app. Use the tabs to change your viewing preferences through the mobile or web app:

  1. Log in to the mobile app and tap the Notifications icon Screenshot 2024-06-20 at 4.30.43 PM.pngin the top right corner of the Mobile Dashboard:

  2. Notifications in the Notification Center on mobile will be listed in chronological order. Unread notifications will be highlighted in blue. Read notifications are displayed in white:

    ⚠️ Only mobile notifications (received via Push or SMS) will appear in the Notification Center. Email notifications are not included.

  3. Scroll to the bottom of the list of loaded notifications to load more. You can access up to 3 months of historical notifications in the Notification Centre.
