How to Cancel Your Company 7shifts Account

We're sad to see you go! As an admin user, you can cancel your 7shifts account directly from the web app—no need to contact Support! This self-serve option puts you in control and makes the process quick and easy.

  • If you are on a free trial, your account will expire automatically at the end of your trial period. No cancellation is necessary.
  • 7shifts does not offer seasonal holds. If your business is temporarily closed, you can cancel your subscription and reactivate your account when you reopen. All data in your account will be held for 2 years.

What Happens When You Cancel

  • Your subscription will end at the end of your current billing cycle.
  • Your account remains active until that date.
  • No refunds are issued.
  • You can reactivate at any time before your billing period ends.

⚠️ Important: If your account includes multiple locations with separate subscriptions (i.e., different billing dates), your overall account access will end when the earliest subscription expires.
To keep access to specific locations longer, you’ll need to delete the other locations individually before their respective billing dates.

Back Up Your Data

Before cancelling we recommend downloading your important data for your records.

⚠️ In compliance with Privacy and Data Protection Regulations, and as per our data retention policies, we permanently delete all account data 2 years after cancellation. If you'd like to retain any data for future purposes, we advise that you download a copy of your data prior to the 2-year term.


How to Cancel Your Account

  1. Log in to the 7shifts web app as an Admin user.
  2. From the left navigation go to Settings > Billing.
  3. Click the Cancel Account button.
  4. Follow the prompts:
    • Select a reason for cancelling.
    • Confirm the cancellation.

After completing the steps:

  • Your account enters a pre-cancelled state.
  • A banner will appear on the top of your screen indicating the number of days left on your 7shifts subscription (if there are fewer than 31 days left in your billing cycle).
  • You’ll continue to have access until the end of the billing period.

⚠️ Special Notes for 7shifts Payroll & Tip Management Users

If your account has Payroll or Tip Management enabled, you'll need to disable these features before cancelling.

⚠️ Important: Once these features are removed, you must return to the Billing page to finish cancelling your account.

Disable Tip Management

  • Tip Management can be disabled directly by the admin in the 7shifts web app.
    1. Select the prompt to "Disable Tip Payouts."
    2. You'll be redirected to the Tip Management Add-on page,  
    3. Click the More menu (three dots) and select Remove add-on.

Cancel 7shifts Payroll

  • 7shifts Payroll can be cancelled directly by the admin in the 7shifts web app.
    1. Select the prompt to "Disable Payroll."
    2. You'll be directed to Payroll Dashboard where you can "Cancel 7shifts Payroll."

🚫 What’s Restricted During Pre-Cancellation

While your account is in the pre-cancelled state, you cannot:

  • Upgrade or downgrade plans.
  • Add or remove locations.

🔁 How to Reactivate Your Account

If you change your mind, you can reverse the cancellation at any time before your billing cycle ends:

  • Click Reactivate Account from the top banner or the Billing page.
  • Your account will return to full active status immediately.
