This guide will help you set up your account and cover the essentials, providing you with the tools you need to navigate 7shifts.

Before diving in, here are a few things you should know:

  • You'll receive an email/SMS invitation from your Manager to set up your 7shifts Account, be sure to verify and provide them with the correct contact details to avoid any setup delays.

  • We provide a variety of online resources to help you navigate our features. Explore our Product Guides to learn how something works or to troubleshoot any issues you encounter.

Your Setup Roadmap

Here's an overview of the steps you'll be taking to launch your Account: 

  1. Log In to 7shifts for the First Time

    After receiving your email or SMS invitation, log in to your 7shifts account. This will give you access to your schedule, availability, time off requests, and more. You’ll also confirm your details and create a password to secure your account.

  2. Explore Your Dashboard

    Once logged in, the Dashboard is your starting point. See your upcoming shifts, important notifications, and any requests that need your attention. It provides a clear snapshot of your work schedule and tasks for the day.

  3. Check Your Schedule

    The Schedule section is where you can view all your assigned shifts in a calendar format. This ensures you stay on top of your work schedule and helps you prepare for upcoming shifts.

  4. Submit Your Availability

    Submitting your availability lets your Manager know when you're able to work and that you get shifts that fit within your schedule.

  5. Explore the Shift Pool

    The Shift Pool gives you flexibility when it comes to shift changes and can be used to:

    Take a Shift: pick up available shifts from your coworkers.
    Give a Shift: offer up shifts that you can't work.
    Trade a Shift: swap shifts with your coworkers.

  6. Submit Time Off

    Need time off for a personal commitment? Use the Time Off feature to submit requests directly through the app. Your Manager will be notified and can approve or deny your request.

  7. Messaging & Announcements

    Communicate with your team directly within the app. Use it to ask questions, swap shifts or stay connected with your coworkers.

  8. Set Notification Preferences

    Set up your notification preferences to stay informed about schedule changes, shift trades, time-off approvals, and other important updates. You can receive these alerts via email, SMS, or push notifications (recommended).

  9. Connect Your Accounts

    If you work for multiple employers using 7shifts, switch between them.
