Shift Pool Notifications for Admins & Managers

When an Employee requests to take a shift from the Shift Pool or trade a shift with another Employee, an email or SMS/push notification is sent to Managers and Admins.

Who these request notifications will get routed to may depend on your user type, permissions, and account settings.

⚠️ Admins, Managers, and Assistant Managers can customize their personal notification preferences, choosing to enable or disable specific notifications as needed.

⚠️ Admins can update the Shift Pool settings for the entire account under Company settings.

Shift Pool Notification Routing

Manager and Assistant Managers will receive notifications when:

  • An Employee requests to take a shift in the Shift Pool.
  • They are set up as a Manager or Assistant Manager user type in 7shifts.
  • The request comes from Employees assigned to their Locations and Departments.
If there are multiple Managers assigned to a Location or Department, all designated Managers will receive the notification. Managers and Assistant Managers must also have the 'Can approve/decline shift pool requests' permission.

Do employees get a notification when someone has picked up their shift in the shift pool or bids on it?

We'll send the employee a notification once a shift has been taken:

Admins receive notifications based on their settings:

  • Admins not set to 'Appear as an Employee' receive notifications for all Locations and Departments (except for Up for Grabs shifts).
  • Admins set to 'Appear as an Employee' will only receive notifications for the Locations and Departments they are assigned to and have set themselves to 'Appear on schedule' within their Employee profile.
