What to Do If the Account Owner Has Left the Business

If the person listed as the Account Owner for your 7shifts account is no longer with your company, 7shifts Support can help reassign and handover ownership. This article outlines the necessary documentation and process for a smooth ownership transfer or removal when a team owner changes.

⚠️ Important:

  • To protect your business, we require verification before making any changes to account ownership.
  • If a transfer of ownership is needed but the current Account Owner is still with your organization, they can reassign ownership themselves. See the steps outlined here: How to Transfer Account Ownership

How to Request a Transfer

When the Account Owner is no longer available, please contact Support to submit the required documents and indicate who the new Account Owner should be. To initiate an ownership transfer, submit the following:

  1. Proof of Identification
    A valid, government-issued ID (e.g., driver’s license or passport).
  2. Proof of Address
A document showing the same address as on the ID (e.g., utility bill or bank statement).
  3. Proof of Ownership or Authorization
    One of the following:
    • Business incorporation or registration documents, or
    • A signed letter on company letterhead from a senior leader confirming who should be assigned as the new Account Owner.

⚠️  All three documents are required before we can proceed to ensure proper identity verification and legal compliance.

What Happens Next

  • Once your collected documentation is received, our Security team will review and verify them. If everything is in order and authenticated, the ownership transfer will be processed.

  • You’ll be notified as soon as the update is complete.

After the Transfer

  • The previous Account Owner becomes a regular Admin. The new Account Owner may choose to deactivate the old owner's user profile if needed.

  • All active Admins on the account will be notified of the ownership change.

  • The new Account Owner will be prompted to accept the 7shifts Terms of Service upon their next login.
