What is the Shift Pool?

The Shift Pool is a centralized place where Admins or Managers in 7shifts can handle shift change requests. These requests are submitted by Employees or those at a lower user level type. Available on both the 7shifts web and mobile app, manage staff schedules by reviewing, approving, or deleting them.

Things to Know

• Manager/Assistant Managers can only access requests from other users that are assigned the same Locations and Departments they are assigned to.
  

   

• Managers/Assistant Managers will be able to approve shift trades/requests with permissions: can manage schedules, and can approve/decline shift pool requests.

Admins can manage Shift Pool settings for the Account under Settings > Company Settings > Shift Pool. Please review these settings to unlock the ability to:

• Enable the shift pool
• Require manager approval for shift changes
• Offer up part of scheduled shifts
• Allow managers to offer open shifts across all locations

About Shift Pool Requests

The Shift Pool makes it easy for managers to review shift change requests, maintain staffing levels, and ensure employee satisfaction. It is divided into four main sections, each with a specific purpose to help you oversee and respond to requests:

• Shift Pool requests - View all current requests from employees who want to pick up or trade shifts.
 
• Up for grabs - List shifts that are available for employees to claim. Once Employees select "Offer Up" from the web/mobile app, they will land here for others to pick up.
  
  
• Trade requests - Includes requests for direct shift trades between employees. Once Employees select "Trade" from the web/mobile app, they will be listed here.
   
• My trades - Displays all your shift trade requests, and any of your shifts that are up for grabs.
