Shift Pool Company Settings

Configure how employees manage their shifts in 7shifts, including trading, picking up, or offering shifts.

Prerequisites

⚠️ Only Admins can access and update Company Settings. Be sure to hit Save to complete any changes.


Access Shift Pool Company Settings

  1. Log in to the web app as an Admin.

  2. In the left navigation bar, head to Settings > (or, click on your profile photo) Company Settings.

  3. Select the Shift Pool tab:


Shift Pool Settings Overview

Here’s an overview of the settings you can adjust to control shift management:

  • Allow employees to trade and take shifts with each other: This setting enables employees to swap shifts or take over shifts from others, giving your team flexibility in managing their work hours. Employees can offer up their shifts when they're unavailable and take over shifts to pick up additional hours.

  • Require Approval: When this option is enabled, any shift trade or shift pickup will need manager approval before it becomes official. This ensures that shift changes don’t negatively impact operations, and managers can maintain oversight of the schedule. If shift management is enabled for your account, this setting adds an extra layer of control.

  • Partial Shifts: This setting allows employees to offer up only part of their scheduled shift, rather than the entire shift. For instance, if an employee is only available for the first half of their shift, they can offer the remainder of the shift to another employee to cover.

  • Account-wide Open Shifts: When enabled, this option allows managers to offer open shifts to employees across all locations. This is useful for restaurants with multiple locations, as it provides greater flexibility in finding employees to cover open shifts at any of their locations.
