7shifts Payroll: Benefits

Benefits refer to compensation beyond regular pay. Some benefits are optional, such as 401(k) plans or Section 125 medical plans, and can be either pre-tax or post-tax. Employer-provided benefits may vary by state.

If you're an employer using 7shifts Payroll, you can easily manage and add benefits directly from an employee's profile. This allows for customized setups tailored to each employee. This article provides a step-by-step guide for Admins to add these items in 7shifts profiles.

Adding a Benefit

⚠️ Benefits can only be configured for Employees who have completed payroll onboarding.
⚠️ If you're integrated with one of our preferred benefit partners, you must add and manage benefits directly in the provider's system, and they will sync with 7shifts. Learn more here.
⚠️ Benefits added manually using the steps below will only deduct the contribution amount from the employee's pay. 7shifts does not currently support the transfer of funds between 7shifts customers and their benefits provider.
    1. Login to the 7shifts web app as an Admin user.
    2. In the left navigation bar, go to Team > select an employee's name to open their profile.

    3. Click Benefits and deductions.
    4. From the Benefits and deductions tab > click +Add Benefit
    5. Enter the benefit details and click Save.

⚠️ Note: It's recommended to discontinue a benefit by setting the Effective End Date rather than removing it if the benefit has been applied to an employee at any point. This ensures a record is maintained within the employee's profile. Benefit removal should only be used if the benefit was added to the profile in error.
