Task Notifications for 7tasks

Task notifications in 7tasks help employees and managers stay updated on restaurant operations to increase completion rates and productivity.

Things to know

Task notifications are only sent as push notifications to mobile devices. 7shifts does not support SMS or email notifications for tasks. These notifications are available on all plans that include Task Management.

Employee task notifications

Employees receive a push notification at the start of their shift if they are assigned to any tasks or if their location, department, or role has assigned tasks. Tapping the notification opens the Task Management tab in the 7shifts app. Notifications are triggered whenever a shift overlaps with a scheduled task list window.

For example: a restaurant has a task list scheduled daily from 11:15–11:30 AM, assigned to the HOST role.

• An employee is scheduled as HOST from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM

• Because their shift overlaps the task list time, they will receive the task notification

• The notification is sent at 11:00 AM, when their shift begins, not at 11:15 AM

Any employee scheduled as HOST whose shift overlaps the task list window will receive the notification at the start of their shift.

Manager and Admin notifications

Admins and Managers receive push notifications when a task list becomes overdue. These notifications are sent only to Admins or Managers who are actively scheduled at the time the task list expires. Tapping the notification opens the Task Management tab in the 7shifts app.

Configure task notification settings

Admins and Managers with "Can Manage Tasks" permissions can enable or disable company-wide overdue notifications. Configure these settings by navigating to the main menu and selecting Tasks, then Settings.

Do Managers receive notifications if they are assigned a specific task?

Yes. 7shifts sends a notification to any user who is scheduled for a shift and has been assigned a task. This applies if the task matches their specific assignments or if the task was assigned to them individually.
