Reconcile Qu POS time punches in 7shifts

Managers sometimes need to correct time punches in Qu POS to ensure accurate payroll and labor records. How those edits carry over to 7shifts depends on the situation, and there are two scenarios that require different approaches:

  • Editing an auto-clock-out punch (which can create a duplicate entry in 7shifts).
  • Editing a punch that falls outside 7shifts' auto-reconciliation window (which won't sync automatically).

Find your scenario below and follow the steps to resolve it.

Important: Managers require permission "Can manage time punches" to edit or delete punches in 7shifts Time Clocking.

Resolve auto-clock out duplication

When Qu POS automatically clocks out an employee, 7shifts records that punch, including the automated clock-out time. If a manager then edits that punch in Qu POS, Qu assigns it a new shift ID, and 7shifts treats the edited record as a separate entry rather than an update. The result is two punches for the same employee and shift: the original auto-clock-out punch and the newly edited one.

To avoid this, delete the original punch in 7shifts and then make the edits in Qu POS.

  1. In 7shifts, select Time Clocking in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click Review next to the appropriate pay period.

  3. Find the employee's original auto-clock-out punch and click the Trash icon beside it to delete.
  4. Click Delete time punch to permanently remove it from 7shifts reporting.
  5. In Qu POS, open the employee's timecard and make the punch correction.
  6. Save the edit in Qu POS. The corrected punch syncs to 7shifts automatically as a new entry.

Edit punches outside the auto-reconciliation window

7shifts only automatically syncs punch edits made in Qu POS if the original punch occurred within the last three days. For punches older than three days, changes made in Qu POS won't carry over to 7shifts automatically.

You'll need to delete the original punch in 7shifts and add a new one manually with the correct times

  1. In 7shifts, select Time Clocking in the left navigation bar.
  2. Click Review next to the appropriate pay period.
  3. Find the employee's original punch that needs to be corrected.
  4. Click the Trash icon beside it to delete

  5. Click Delete time punch to permanently remove it from 7shifts reporting.
  6. Click + Add punch to enter a new punch for the employee with the correct clock-in and clock-out times.
  7. Click Save.

Important: For punches outside the 3-day auto-reconciliation window, don't edit in Qu POS and expect 7shifts to update automatically. Delete the original punch in 7shifts Time Clocking and add a new one with the correct times instead.
