Give employees access to timesheets and tip reports
7shifts lets you give employees visibility into their tip breakdown directly in the mobile app. When Employee Tip Visibility is enabled, employees see their estimated tips alongside wages on the mobile dashboard and can view a detailed tip breakdown in the Timesheets & Earnings tab.
Things to know
Important: Employee Tip Visibility requires Employee timesheet and earnings access to be enabled first. Timesheet access is only available for locations syncing labor data via 7punches or a POS Labor integration.
- Only Admins can enable or disable these settings.
- Tip data must also be available through 7shifts Tip Pooling or synced directly from your POS system.
- Disabling Employee timesheet and earnings access automatically disables Employee Tip Visibility.
- Turning off Employee Tip Visibility hides estimated tips from the employee mobile dashboard and excludes them from the earnings total. It does not hide wage-based estimated earnings.
- The employee mobile app must reload the updated setting before any change appears.
How to enable Employee timesheet and earnings access
Employee Tip Visibility is only available after you enable timesheet access for your location. Complete these steps first.
- Log in to the 7shifts web app as an Admin.
- Navigate to Time Clocking > Settings.
- Enable Employee timesheet and earnings access.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Note: Enabling Employee timesheet and earnings access gives employees a dashboard summary of Shifts Worked, Hours Worked, and Estimated Wages for the current pay period on both the 7shifts web app and mobile app.
How to enable Employee Tip Visibility
Once enabled, employees can view their tip reports on the 7shifts mobile app.
- Log in to the 7shifts web app as an Admin.
- Navigate to Time Clocking > Settings.
- Toggle Employee Tip Visibility on or off.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
What employees see on the mobile dashboard
When Employee Tip Visibility is enabled, estimated tips are added to the earnings summary on the employee mobile dashboard. When it's disabled, the dashboard shows estimated wages based on hours worked only.

What employees see in Timesheets and Earnings
When Employee Tip Visibility is enabled, employees can view a detailed breakdown in the Timesheets & Earnings tab on mobile and under My Timesheets on the web app. What appears depends on your tip pooling setup and how Tip Calculation are configured for the location.
The breakdown may include:
- POS tip data, including CC tips collected, declared tips, and CC withheld amount
- Tips per hour, hours worked, and total wage
- Contributions to the tip pool, including the tip pool name
- Amounts collected from the tip pool, including the tip pool name

Tip report examples by setup type
The data displayed on the Employee Tip Report may vary depending on your 7shifts account configuration (e.g., Tip Pooling, POS tip data). Employees typically see a summary of their estimated earnings for the pay period, including:
- Hours Worked: The total hours worked during the pay period.
- Hourly Wages Earned: The total wages earned based on their hourly rate(s).
- Tips Earned: The estimated total tips earned during the pay period.

Next steps
Once Employee Tip Visibility is on, employees can open the Timesheets & Earnings tab in the 7shifts mobile app to review their tip breakdown after each shift. If tips aren't appearing as expected after the app reloads, confirm that the location is using an active 7punches or POS Labor integration and that Tip Calculations are configured for that location.
