Why is There a Punch with a Negative Value?

Issue 

An employee's timesheet is showing negative hours, even though they clocked in and out for their shift. This can occur when an excessively long break is accidentally added to a punch entry.

What To Do

 ⚠️ Punches can be edited by Admin users + Manager/Assistant Manager users assigned to that Location, with the permission: 'Can manage time punches'.

To resolve negative hours caused by an incorrectly entered break:

  1. Log in to your 7shifts account as an Admin or Manager with permissions.
  2. In the left navigation bar, select Time Clocking.
  3. Select the Pay Period with the incorrect punch.
  4. Click the edit icon next to the negative punch.
  5. In the punch modal, adjust the duration of the break to the accurate amount.
  6. Save the updated punch.
  7. Once the break is adjusted, the hours worked will automatically correct themselves on the timesheet.
  8. Be sure to select Re-sync Timesheets from the Payroll screen if you are using 7shifts Payroll.
