Set an Employee's Termination Date

When an employee leaves your company, you need to 'terminate' them in 7shifts Payroll by setting their 'Termination Date.' This date tells the system when to stop including them in payroll calculations and payroll runs, ensuring accurate final payments. Follow the steps outlined in this article to set an employee's termination date in 7shifts.

⚠️ Required Permissions: Managers and Assistant Managers need the 'Can edit employees' permission to terminate employees in 7shifts.

Steps to Set a Termination Date:

  1. Login to 7shifts on a web browser.
  2. Navigate to 'Team' and find the employee you need to terminate. Then click on their name to open their profile.
  3. Navigate to the 'Employment' tab and scroll down until you see 'Employment History.'
  4. Next to the employee's active employment record, you'll see three dots. Click on those dots and choose 'Terminate Employment.'
  5. Enter the employee's last day of work in the 'Termination Date' field. Then, click 'Terminate Employment' to confirm.

Important Pay Tip:

  • The 'Termination Date' is the cutoff for payroll.
  • To pay an employee through the end of a pay period, set the "Termination Date" to the last day of that pay period.
