Why Doesn’t My Actual Labor Match the Labor Summary in Toast POS?

If you’re noticing that the actual labor data in 7shifts doesn’t align with the labor summary from Toast, there are a few potential causes that could explain the discrepancy. By ensuring wages and roles are mapped correctly, you can minimize labor discrepancies between 7shifts and Toast.

Check Employee Wages in 7shifts

One of the most common causes of labor discrepancies is when employees don’t have wages set for their assigned roles in 7shifts. Without this, the system won’t be able to calculate the correct labor costs.

How to Fix It:

Review and update wages in 7shifts either for an individual profile or in bulk.

If Wage Sync has been enabled for the account, update the wages in Toast for each job code. This will subsequently sync to 7shifts.

Pro Tip!

To avoid discrepancies in the future, ensure that your wages in 7shifts match Toast by enabling:

  • Wage Sync: Automatically sync wages from Toast to 7shifts.
  • Wage-Based Roles Setting: Ensure that employees' wages are correctly assigned based on their roles.

These settings can only be updated by an Admin of the account.

Check for Unmapped Employees and Roles

Another common issue is unmapped employees or roles between 7shifts and Toast. When employees or roles are not mapped correctly, 7shifts won’t be able to sync their time and wage data from Toast.

How to Fix It:

Review the Mapping Page in your 7shifts account:

    1. Log in to the web app as an Admin or Manager/Assistant Manager with permissions.

    2. In the left navigation bar, head to Apps & Integrations > Mappings.

    3. View the All Mapping Status to check for any missing or incomplete mappings for employee wages.
