2-Step Verification (MFA)

2-step verification (MFA) is a security measure that enhances the protection of your 7shifts account confirming your identity beyond a username and password. By adding an extra layer of security to your account, you're minimizing the risk of bad actors impersonating your identity. This article outlines how to enable 2-step verification in 7shifts.

Starting in September 2024: 2-step verification will be required when completing certain actions in 7shifts, like approving payroll or viewing banking details.

⚠️ A valid mobile phone number is required to set up 2-Step Verification.

Enable 2-Step Verification

  1. Login to the web app at app.7shifts.com.

  2. Hover over your profile photo at the top right > select My Account (or, head to Settings > My Account):

  3. In the General tab, enable 2-step Verification:

  5. Click Continue.
  6.  Enter the OTP (one-time passcode) that was sent to your phone via SMS.
  7. Save Recovery Codes: Take note of the 10 recovery codes provided and store them securely. These codes can be used to log in if you lose access to your phone.

    • Important: Once a recovery code is used, it cannot be reused and becomes invalid.
    • Need new codes? Go to My Account > View backup codes > Generate new codes. This will invalidate any previous codes.
  8. Success! You’ve successfully set up 2-Step Verification (MFA).

Actions Requiring 2-step Verification

Once 2-step verification is set up, it will be required for certain actions related to Tip Payouts and 7shifts Payroll features. When performing these actions, an OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent via SMS to verify your identity before the action can be completed.

After successful verification, sessions will remain verified for a specific period.
