Employee Training updates

7shifts Employee Training has moved out of Beta and is now available on our Premium plan! Check out some exciting updates below: 

• Publishing, assigning, and completing training content requires Premium plan.  All content and progress data is preserved, and once you're on Premium, you and your team can pick up right where you left off.
• Employees can complete assigned training directly on web browsers under My Training, in addition to the mobile app.
• Assess employee knowledge with more quiz types: Matching, Ordering, and Short Answer. 
• Easily re-assign or un-assign courses to employees under the Tracking & Reports tab in the selected course. 
• Copy existing training courses to another managed account by selecting the wrench icon on the Training > Courses page.
• Lesson Builder now supports Vimeo video embeds to enrich learning materials.

Multi-role display Schedule view

The new optional multi-role employee display allows Managers to view employees assigned to more than one role under each role on the schedule, providing complete visibility when building schedules.

• Access the toggle anytime by navigating to the Layout dropdown top right of the Schedule > enable the Employees in every assigned role toggle within the List by Role layout.
• Spot available team members under secondary roles without switching views!
• Each role section shows all of an employee's shifts, including those scheduled under their other roles. Those shifts appear faded to distinguish them, but you can still edit shifts for roles in the same department by hovering over the shift.

 Employee search on the Schedule

Use the new employee search bar at the top of the Schedule page to quickly locate specific team members and view their assigned shifts.

Role filtering on the Schedule

Managers with permission can now filter by Role and create new Roles directly from the Department filter dropdown on the Schedule page.

• Select the arrow next to any Department to expand and view its nested Roles.
• Filter the Schedule by single or multiple Roles, or click Only to instantly isolate a single Role.
• Create a new Role under any Department directly within the dropdown menu.
• Save time on setup since your filter selections automatically persist across logins on the same browser.
• Filtering by Role on the Schedule is available on web only.

Schedule view navigation updates 

The overhauled web Schedule view gives managers flexible filtering, search, and vertical space controls to navigate complex rosters faster.

• Select multiple departments at once while in the Time Frames view to keep multi-department visibility consistent across all views.
• Enjoy more vertical screen space as the top header automatically scrolls out of view when moving down the roster.

7shifts Payroll x Clair On-Demand Pay

The upgraded Clair On-Demand Pay experience for 7shifts Payroll customers allows employees to access earned wages without manually linking their personal bank accounts.

• Repayment happens automatically on payday through a net-pay split, appearing as a deposit to a Clair (Pathward DDA) account on employee pay stubs.
• Advance limits can build up to $800 per pay period as employees establish repayment history.
• Employees using the existing integration are converted automatically and will be prompted to open their new payment account upon their next login.
• You can turn off access at any time by navigating to Settings > Add-ons > Clair On-Demand Pay > Disable.
• Note: The upgraded Clair On-Demand Pay experience for 7shifts Payroll customers is rolling out in phases. Your account will automatically upgrade when available.

Cash tips for Lightspeed K Tip Pooling

Automatic tip contributions from your Lightspeed K POS integration now includes cash tips, allowing you to calculate and distribute total earnings in one place. You no longer need to track cash tip distributions in separate spreadsheets or manual workaround processes. Cash tips entered at your POS automatically flow into your 7shifts tip pool alongside card tips so final payouts accurately reflect full team earnings.

• Combine cash and digital tips automatically during tip pool calculations.
• Skip manual spreadsheet tracking when distributing tips to your team.
• Access this feature on tip pooling-eligible plans with an active Lightspeed K POS integration.

Custom schedule publishing options

Managers can now publish schedules by one or multiple roles, a full week, or custom days directly within 7shifts, while the standard workflow of publishing entire departments for the week remains unchanged and pre-selected by default.

• Select one or multiple roles at a time within the updated publish modal, or keep all roles selected to publish as usual.
• Choose to publish a full week or pick specific days of the week to publish.
• Rely on pre-filled defaults that match your active schedule view, keeping your full department and week pre-selected when opening the modal.
• Right-click any assigned draft shift on web, or use the menu in mobile shift details, to publish individual shifts on demand.
• Note: The custom publishing update has been released for web and Android (version 2026.32.0) devices only at this time. Custom publishing will be available on iOS soon!
