How do I resolve the NY MCTMT missing form warning?
Question
How can I resolve the "You're missimg a New York from. Without it, payroll and tax forms can't go through" warning for NY MCTMT if my payroll is under the quarterly threshold?
Answer
You can resolve this warning by entering your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) as the account identifier.
This warning is not a payroll blocker and will not prevent you from running payroll.
Why This Happens
Accounts operating in New York require a Metropolitan Commuter Transportation Mobility Tax (MCTMT) account number. 7shifts Payroll flags this as a "Needs Attention" item to ensure your account is ready for processing if your wages exceed the $312,500 quarterly threshold in the future.
The state of New York typically uses your company FEIN as the identifier for this tax, which is why a standalone account number is often unavailable.
What To Do
- Locate your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN).
- Navigate to Payroll> Busines Settings > Tax Setup > New York.
- Click Edit, next to NY MCTMT Account Number.
- Enter your FEIN into this field.
- Save your changes to clear the dashboard warning.
