How to use the 7shifts iPad app or web version

The latest 7shifts iPad app version uses a native mobile layout to ensure a responsive and consistent experience across all mobile devices.

Things To Know

  • The latest iOS app version transitions the iPad app from a windowed web view to an optimized mobile interface.
  • Users who prefer the classic desktop layout can still access app.7shifts.com via a web browser on their iPad.
  • If you receive the following message upon app log in "We are unable to load the app due to a communication error. Please try again later." we recommend switching to the 7shifts web app via your preferred browser for a reliable experience.

Updated iPad App Features

The iPad app interface scales to the tablet screen while maintaining the mobile navigation found on 7shifts smartphone applications.

Use the top navigation bar to navigate between your Overview Dashboard, Schedule, Messaging, Log Book and More menu.

  • The Schedule: View shifts and department coverage using vertical scrolling.
  • Who’s Working Dashboard: Access a real-time list of teammates currently on the clock.
  • Sales vs. Labor Dashboard: This dashboard provides a central view of labor efficiency, pending employee requests, and recent account activity.

Tip: When reviewing 7shifts Knowledge Base articles for app instructions, refer to the Mobile tab to see the current iPad experience.

Accessing the Web Version on iPad

If the mobile app layout does not meet specific workflow needs, users can access the standard web interface through a mobile browser.

  1. Open Safari or Google Chrome on the iPad.
  2. Navigate to the 7shifts login page app.7shifts.com.
  3. Log in using standard account credentials.

Create a Home Screen Shortcut

For a faster, "one-tap" experience, you can make the web version feel just like an app by adding a shortcut icon directly to your device's Home screen:

Using Safari:

  1. Navigate to app.7shifts.com in the web browser.
  2. Tap the Share icon (square with an upward arrow) next to the address bar on the top right.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Name the shortcut "7shifts Web" and tap Add.

Using Google Chrome:

  1. Navigate to app.7shifts.com in the web browser.
  2. Tap the Share icon (square with an upward arrow) next to the address bar on the top right.
  3. Scroll down or select View More and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Follow the prompts to name and tap Add in the top right corner.

Once added, you can access the 7shifts web app like you would any other app on your device.
