Can I change the company name on payroll direct deposits?

Question

How do I change the company name that appears on my employees' direct deposit transactions?

Answer

No. At this time, you cannot change the company name that appears on employee direct deposit transactions to your specific business name. The name that displays on the deposit depends on the payment type used during the 7shifts Payroll run.

For standard ACH payments and direct deposits, the deposit name displays as "Check." Our payroll processor can change this label to "7shifts" but cannot list a specific company name on the transactions. These descriptors are managed by the bank and cannot be modified within your 7shifts account.

For Instant or Real-Time Payments, the name is controlled by the receiving bank or payment provider. These deposits typically appear as "Check" or "Real Time Payment." By default, these payments may appear with labels such as "INST PYMT FROM CHECK PAYMENTS" or "Transfer Check Payments from 7shifts."

Note: If an employee's bank or third-party service is having trouble approving the deposit due to the name, the employee should contact their bank or provider directly to approve the 7shifts deposits.

What To Do

If deposits are still rejected after the employee contacts their bank, please share any documentation of that occurrence with the 7shifts Support team. Ensure the documentation includes the specific error message or rejection reason provided by the financial institution to help 7shifts Support investigate the transaction.
