Approving/Declining Time Off Requests

Admins and Managers can approve or decline employee time off requests in 7shifts from both the web and mobile apps. All time off requests must be approved before they're finalized on the schedule.

Things To Know


Important: Manager and Assistant Manager users require the permission Can approve/decline employee time off requests to approve or decline time off.

Important: Manager users can't approve time off requests from other Manager users. Managers only receive requests from Assistant Managers and Employees who share the same Location and Department.

  • If a time off request is deleted by a Manager, the employee receives an email notification and the request no longer appears on the schedule.
  • When approving or declining a request, you can leave a comment. That comment is included in the notification sent to the employee.
  • Employees can submit time off requests for dates where a schedule has already been published. There's no setting to block time off requests on published schedule dates.

Use the tabs below to follow the steps for your platform.

  1. From the More menu ☰, select Time Off.
  2. Under the Requests tab, review all pending time off requests.
  3. Tap a pending request to expand it and review the details.
  4. Choose Approve to approve the request. Or tap the More Options icon to Delete, Edit, or Decline the request.
  5. Optional: Leave a comment when approving or declining. The comment is included in the notification sent to the employee.
