Why am I not getting the payroll verification code by text?

Answer

⚠️ You must be an admin with permission to run payroll.

You may not be receiving the verification code for two main reasons:

  1. SMS notifications are not enabled in your account settings. Even with two-factor authentication (2FA) turned on, you must also enable SMS notifications to receive the necessary verification codes via text message.
  2. Your device is roaming internationally or is off-network. Our SMS partner cannot guarantee the delivery of verification codes to devices that are not connected to their home carrier's network.
    • If you’re abroad, you can try disabling 2FA and re-enabling it using a Google Voice number, which may allow codes to be delivered successfully.

If you are an administrator and are having this issue, the most reliable way to process payroll is to use a backup code or have another administrator on your account process the payroll for you.
