Can 1099 Contractors appear in regular payroll runs?

Question

Can 1099 Contractors appear in regular payroll runs?

Answer

Yes, 1099 Contractors can appear in regular payroll runs.

In order to appear on the Contractor tab of the regular payroll, they must:

  • Have their Payroll Classification listed as Contractor.
  • Have hours recorded for the specific pay period of the payroll run or be on Salary.

Off-cycle payrolls can also be used to pay 1099 contractors for one-time fees, specific projects, and mid-cycle milestones, or to record historical year-to-date (YTD) earnings for tax reporting.
