Resolving Inaccurate Employee Wages in 7shifts Payroll

Issue

Employee wages in 7shifts Payroll are not reflecting the accurate, most up-to-date rates, even after updating the wages in the employees' profiles. As a result, incorrect wages are being displayed in payroll. How can this issue be resolved?

Root Cause

In 7shifts Payroll, employee wages are sourced directly from their profiles. Wages can be updated in two ways:

  1. Manual Updates: An Admin or Manager with the necessary permissions can manually adjust wages in 7shifts.

  2. Automatic Updates via Wage Sync: Wage Sync is a feature that syncs employee wages from their POS profiles into their 7shifts profiles.

If wages revert to previous rates after being manually updated in 7shifts, it is likely because Wage Sync is enabled. When active, Wage Sync treats the wages from the connected POS as the source of truth, overriding manual updates made in 7shifts.

Solution

You have two options to resolve this problem:

  1. Leave Wage Sync Enabled: Update wages directly in the POS system  to ensure they sync into 7shifts automatically.
    • If Wage Sync is enabled and wages are reverting to previous rates, the POS wages must be updated to align with the desired rates in 7shifts.

  2. Disable Wage Sync: Update wages manually in 7shifts moving forward.
    • Steps to disable Wage Sync:
        1. From the 7shifts web app, go to Apps & Integrations > My Integrations.
        2. Click on the POS integration logo.
        3. Click Settings to the right of the location name.
        4. Navigate to the Employee Data tab.
        5. Toggle Wage Sync off.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Wage Sync is only supported by certain POS integrations. If your POS does not support Wage Sync, you must manually update wages within employee profiles in 7shifts.

  • Admins have access to integration settings to update Wage Sync preferences. Some Managers may also have access to these settings, depending on their assigned permissions. Learn more about Manager permissions here.
