Labor Exceptions Report

The Labor Exception Report in 7shifts monitors compliance with labor laws by identifying and tracking exceptions, such as missed breaks, overtime, double time (applicable in certain states, like California), predictive scheduling violations (e.g., New York City’s Fair Workweek laws), and other scheduling discrepancies. 

Prerequisites

⚠️ Access to this feature may require an upgrade from your current plan.

⚠️ The Labor Exceptions report is only available for accounts using 7punches or a POS labor integration.

⚠️ Shift lengths appear for exceptions related to shift duration, while other exceptions will show 0 hours.

⚠️ Missed Breaks Exceptions (California) will only show on the Labor Exceptions report for those using 7punches or select POS labor integrations, including: Toast, Micros 3700, Aloha, Squirrel, Heartland Restaurant, and Brink.


Follow these steps to run and export the Labor Exception Report: 

  1. In the left navigation bar, head to Reports > Labor Exceptions.

  2. Use the filters to select a date range and Location:

  3. Click Get Report.

  4. Included in the report:

    • Employee who incurred the exception
    • Location where the exception took place
    • Date of the exception
    • Shift length
    • Exception type 
    • Attestation response (only applicable to the state)
    • Exception cost
    • Waivers on file
