How to Switch Your POS Integration in 7shifts

INT banner.pngIf you're planning to switch from one Point of Sale (POS) system to another, you might be concerned about what happens to your data in 7shifts during the transition.

Good news! You don't lose data when switching POS systems and your data remains securely stored.

When you enable a new POS integration, 7shifts will continue to function with your existing data. Labor projections will continue to build as usual and historical sales data linked to your old POS will remain in 7shifts.

Things to Know

Before making the switch, here are important points to note:

  • One integration per Location.
7shifts only supports one POS integration per Location. In other words, you cannot have two POS systems connected to a Location.

  • Disconnect the current POS integration.
This step is required before enabling a new POS system, as each location in 7shifts can only be connected to one POS system at a time. If you skip this step, the Location may not appear as an option when setting up the new integration. This will remove the current integration from 7shifts, but don't worry—your data will not be lost.

  • Tip Pooling considerations.
If you're managing tips with 7shifts, it's important to note the potential changes involved before switching POS systems. Some POS systems allow 7shifts to automatically pull tip data, while others do not. If your new POS doesn’t support this feature, you may need to manually manage and reconfigure your tip pools to fit the new setup.
