How to set up credit card tip withholding
7shifts allows you to reclaim a percentage of credit card tips at the Location level to cover payment processing fees before they are contributed to a tip pool.

- This feature is available for Admins, Managers, and Assistant Managers with 'Can create and edit tip pools' permissions.
- 7shifts automatically subtracts the withholding percentage before tips enter the tip pool.
- This feature only applies to credit card tips; non-credit card tip amounts are not withheld.
- Credit card withholding is only available for users with automatic tip pool contributions from supported POS systems like Toast, TouchBistro, or Square.
- This feature requires tip pools that use a percentage of tips contribution method.
- Important: Credit card withholding is not available for manual tip pool contributions or auto-gratuities.
How to Set up Credit Card Withholding
- In the left navigation bar, select Tip Management Tip Pooling.
- Select Settings on the left-hand menu.
- Check the box for Credit card withholding to enable the feature.
- Enter the desired percentage in the Percentage Withheld field for your Location. If you have multiple Locations, you can enter a specific percentage for each:
- Click Save to complete the setup.
