Troubleshooting Time Zone Settings in Your 7shifts Account
Starting November 1, 2026, clocks in British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba stop changing with the seasons, so those provinces stay on one time year-round. Depending on your account settings, shifts in 7shifts could display one hour off starting that date.
Important Note on Cross-Border Time Zones: Make sure your 7shifts setting matches your restaurant’s exact country and time zone. Because these Canadian time zones will no longer observe Daylight Saving Time while U.S. time zones still do, using a Canadian time zone for a U.S. location (or vice versa) may cause your scheduled shifts to display one hour off after November 1.
Follow the steps in this article to confirm your location time zone, update your browser or the 7shifts mobile app, and review your schedules so your 7shifts account displays the correct times.
Step 1: Check your location time zone in 7shifts
Each location in 7shifts has its own time zone setting, and 7shifts uses that setting to display shift times. Update the time zone if the one saved for your location doesn't match where your restaurant is located. Confirming your location time zone in 7shifts keeps your schedules accurate.
Important: Only Admins have access to view and update timezones in Location Settings.
- Log in to your 7shifts account as an Admin.
- Go to Settings > Location Settings > General.
- Confirm the time zone matches your restaurant's actual location.
-
Note: If your current time zone setting does not match your physical street address, a 'Recommended Time Zone' banner will automatically appear. Click 'Use recommended time zone' to instantly update to the correct local time zone.
-
- Save your changes.
Step 2: Update your browser, the 7shifts mobile app, and your device
Your browser stores time zone data locally, so an outdated browser can make 7shifts display the wrong local time, even after you update your location time zone in 7shifts. Your phone or tablet also stores its own time zone data, separate from the 7shifts app. If your device is out of date, shifts may display an hour off on mobile, even when the 7shifts app is up to date. Updating your browser, the 7shifts mobile app, and your device software makes sure 7shifts uses the latest time zone data.
- On your desktop, update your web browser to the latest version. More information here: How to update your web browser
- On mobile, update the 7shifts app to the latest version through the App Store or Google Play.
- On iPhone or iPad, update to the latest iOS 26 update or iOS 27. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.
- On Android, install any available system updates, including the Google Play system update. Menu names vary by device, so look in Settings under system or security updates.
Note: Some Android devices, including some Samsung devices, may not have the updated time zone data yet. If your device is fully updated and shift times still look wrong on mobile, check your schedule in the web app, which shows the correct times when your browser is up to date.
Step 3: Review your schedules for any week after November 1
After you confirm your location time zone and update your browser or app, review the schedules you've already published in 7shifts for any week after November 1, 2026 and the shift start and end times should match your restaurant's local time.
- Log in to the web or mobile app.
- Go to Schedules.
- Open the Schedule for any week after November 1, 2026.
- Confirm each shift's start and end times look right.
