Prepare for the November 1 time zone changes in Canada

Starting November 1, 2026, clocks in British Columbia, Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Manitoba stop changing with the seasons, so those provinces stay on one time year-round. Depending on your account settings, shifts in 7shifts could display one hour off starting that date.

Follow the steps in this article to confirm your location time zone, update your browser or the 7shifts mobile app, and review your schedules so your 7shifts account displays the correct times.

Step 1: Check your location time zone in 7shifts

Each location in 7shifts has its own time zone setting, and 7shifts uses that setting to display shift times. Update the time zone if the one saved for your location doesn't match where your restaurant is located. Confirming your location time zone in 7shifts keeps your schedules accurate.

Important: Only Admins have access to view and update timezones in Location Settings.

  1. Log in to your 7shifts account as an Admin.
  2. Go to Settings > Location Settings > General.
  3. Confirm the time zone matches your restaurant's actual location.
  4. Save your changes.

Important Note on Cross-Border Time Zones: Make sure your 7shifts setting matches your restaurant’s exact country and time zone. Because these Canadian time zones will no longer observe Daylight Saving Time while U.S. time zones still do, using a Canadian time zone for a U.S. location (or vice versa) may cause your scheduled shifts to display one hour off after November 1.

Step 2: Update your browser and the 7shifts mobile app

Your browser stores time zone data locally, so an outdated browser can make 7shifts display the wrong local time, even after you update your location time zone in 7shifts. Updating your web browser and the 7shifts mobile app makes sure 7shifts uses the latest time zone data.

Step 3: Review your 7shifts schedules for the week of November 1

After you confirm your location time zone and update your browser or app, review the schedules you've already published in 7shifts for the week of November 1, 2026. Shift start and end times should match your restaurant's local time.

  1. Log in to the web or mobile app.
  2. Go to Schedules.
  3. Open the Schedule for the week of November 1, 2026.
  4. Confirm each shift's start and end times look right.
