Managing Employee Training notifications

Training notifications in 7shifts keep Employees informed when they're assigned a course and help Managers stay on top of training progress across their teams.

Things to know


  • Admins, Managers, Assistant Managers, and Employees can customize personal notification preferences to enable or disable Training alerts.
  • Managers must have the "Can view training" permission to receive Training notifications. 

Employee notifications and reminders 


Employees can receive notifications when a course is assigned, shared via an announcement, or approaching a mandatory due date.

Announcement
  • A one-time announcement to everyone assigned a Bite-size course. (Note: This is only applies if the manager set the course to be sent via announcement)

Reminders
  • A reminder is sent to the Employee 1 day before the due date when a mandatory course is incomplete.
    • No reminder is sent when the course has no due date.
    • No reminder is sent when the Employee has already completed the course. 
    • If the Employee is assigned less than 1 day before the due date, the 1-day reminder is not sent. 
    • If the due-date changes and the course is incomplete, the reminder timing updates to the new due-date.

Manager and Admin notifications


Managers can receive notifications for the following employee training updates:

Sign-off needed
  • When an Employee completes a task within a course that requires Manager sign-off, or submits a required comment on a task.
  • To receive sign-off alerts, managers must hold a higher role level than the employee. For instance, an Assistant Manager will only receive notifications for Employees, not for peers at their same level.
  • Sign-off notifications go to Managers in the employee's assigned department first. If no qualifying Manager is found there, the notification falls back to Managers at the Location level. 
  • If no eligible Managers or Assistant Managers are found at the department or location level, then all active company Admins receive the sign-off notification (if their notifications are enabled).

Course due soon
  • The day before a course is due and an Employee hasn't completed it.

  • The day after a course was due and an Employee hasn't completed it.

Daily overdue and due-soon email summary
 
  • A once-daily email that groups all overdue and due-soon courses across your team. courses with the most Employees needing attention are listed first.

Important: Due-date reminders go to Managers or Assistant Manager within the same department as the Employee. If no qualifying Manager or Assistant Manager is found there, the notification falls back to Managers at the Location level. Admins can receive due-date reminders only if they are directly assigned to the same department as the Employee.

Configure Training notification settings


Both Employees and Managers can manage their Training notification preferences from the web app.

  1. Log in to the web app and hover over your profile picture.
  2. Select My Account, then go to the Notifications tab.
  3. Under the Training section, toggle notifications on or off.
