Benefit and 401(k) deductions skipped on a third paycheck

On a biweekly pay schedule, most months have two paydays - but some calendar months include three. In 7shifts Payroll, benefits set up as monthly deductions are collected across the first two paychecks of the month. The third paycheck shows a zero deduction because the full monthly premium has already been withheld.

Here's how the math works: 7shifts Payroll splits the total monthly premium roughly in half and collects it across the first two pay cycles. By the second check, the full amount is withheld. No deduction is taken on the third paycheck because your employee has already paid their full monthly rate, taking it again would mean an overcharge.

Employees on a biweekly schedule always pay the same total monthly amount regardless of how many paychecks fall in that month.
