Why can't I approve I-9?
Issue
The Approve button is greyed out and cannot be clicked when an Admin or Manager attempts to finalize an employee's I-9 form in 7shifts.
Cause
This issue occurs when one or more required fields in the I-9 form are empty. The 7shifts account prevents the approval process until all non-optional data is entered to ensure compliance.
What to do
To enable the Approve button, you must identify and complete all missing information on the form.
- Log in to 7shifts as an Admin or a Manager with onboarding permissions.
- Navigate to the specific employee profile and open the I-9 form.
- Review the entire document for any fields that are not labeled "optional."
- Enter the required information in any empty fields.
- Verify the employee's first day of employment (mm/dd/yyyy) field is completed, as this is a frequently missed requirement.
- Select Approve once the button becomes active to finalize the document.
