Resolving inaccurate employee wages in 7shifts Payroll

Issue

Employee wages in 7shifts Payroll are not reflecting the accurate or most up-to-date rates, even after the rates are updated in the employee profile. This results in incorrect wages being displayed in a payroll run.

Cause

In 7shifts Payroll, employee wages are sourced directly from the employee profile. The wage field can be updated in two ways:

  1. An Admin or Manager with permissions can manually adjust wages.
  2. The Wage Sync feature has been enabled, employee wages from their POS profiles will sync into their 7shifts profile.

If wages revert to previous rates after a manual update in 7shifts, Wage Sync is likely enabled. When active, Wage Sync treats the wages from the connected POS as the source of truth and overrides manual updates made in the 7shifts account.

What to do

⚠️ Important: Admins and Managers must re-enter the wage amount and effective date when making a manual wage update to ensure the 7shifts account saves the changes. LEaving the wage field unchanged (even if the value is the same) will prevent the update from saving.

If Wage Sync is enabled and wages continue to revert, use one of the following paths to resolve the discrepancy:

Update wages in the POS

If you prefer to keep Wage Sync enabled, you must update the employee wages directly in the POS system. These changes will then sync into the employee profile in 7shifts automatically.

Disable Wage Sync

If you prefer to manage wages manually within the 7shifts account, you must disable the sync setting:

  1. In the 7shifts web app, go to Apps & Integrations and select My Integrations.
  2. Select the POS integration logo.
  3. Select Settings to the right of the location name.
  4. Navigate to the Employee Data tab.
  5. Toggle Wage Sync off.

Issue unresolved

Wage Sync is only supported by specific POS integrations. If your POS does not support Wage Sync, you must manually update wages within employee profiles in the 7shifts account.
