How to Pick Up Extra Shifts

Looking for extra shifts? The 7shifts Shift Pool lets you view and bid on available shifts that other employees have dropped or requested to trade.

Important: 

  • Depending on your account settings, multiple employees may bid on the same shift. Your manager will then approve the assignment. You'll receive an SMS/push and email notification if you get the shift.
  • If you don't receive a notification or the shift disappears from the Shift Pool, it has likely been assigned to someone else or is no longer available.

How to Bid on a Shift in the Shift Pool 

You can pick up a shift in the shift pool on both the 7shifts web and mobile apps. The steps are similar on both platforms. Use the tabs below to see steps for your preferred platform.

  1. Log in to the 7shifts mobile app.
  2. Tap on the More menuScreenshot 2024-05-15 at 9.55.19 AM.png (bottom right) > Shift Pool.
  3. The 'Up For Grabs' tab will display any shifts you are eligible to bid on.
    • ⚠️ Note: To bid on a shift, you must have the corresponding Role assigned to you in your 7shifts profile by your manager. Only shifts for your assigned Roles will be displayed in the 'Up For Grabs' list.
  4. If you work at multiple locations, use the filter to switch the Location's shift pool. We'll also let you know if there are any available there:
     
  5. Tap on a specific shift to view more details.
  6. Select 'Bid on shift' if you want to pick it up.
    • ⚠️ Note: Depending on your organization's settings, you may need to wait for your manager to approve the bid before the shift is reassigned to you. You will be notified when your manager approves the bid.
  7. To remove your bid, tap on the shift to open the shift details again select Cancel Bid.
