How to create and assign stations on the schedule

Stations allow you to assign employees to specific operational areas while scheduling shifts under a primary role.

Things to know

Important: Managers and assistant managers require the "Can manage roles" manager permission to create or edit stations. Managers can only update stations for the locations and departments assigned to their user profile.

7shifts stations allow account administrators to organize the schedule by specific sections of a restaurant floor layout. Stations can be assigned default numerical values or customized with specific location titles like a patio or a lounge area.

  • Access to the stations feature may require an upgrade from your current 7shifts account plan.
  • The heading color of a station on the Time Frame schedule view remains black.

  5. Click Save to secure the new configuration parameters.

Caution: Deleting a station cannot be undone. Shifts created with a deleted station remain assigned under the same primary role but lose their specific station assignment.

Change the display order of stations

To alter how stations are organized visually within a department view, Admins must remove the configurations and rebuild them in the preferred sequential order.

  1. Go to Settings, click Locations, Departments & Roles, and select the Roles tab.
  2. Delete the existing stations that require a spatial layout change.
  3. Re-add the station units in the exact sequence you want them to appear across the dashboard views.
  4. Open the schedule editor, manually reassign the updated stations to each affected employee shift, and republish the schedule.

Assign stations to employees

Once stations are configured within role settings, scheduling managers can apply station properties to individual employee shifts.

  1. Open the Schedule page and click the plus icon to create a shift.
  2. Select a role that contains station parameters to trigger the station selection dropdown menu.

  3. Select the specific station assignment from the dropdown field and save the shift details.

Next Steps

Employees automatically view their assigned floor stations directly on upcoming schedules through both the mobile application and web browser dashboards.
