What is BD (Business Decline)?
What does BD mean in 7shifts scheduling?
BD stands for Business Decline: the B is for Business and the D is for Decline.
In 7shifts scheduling, a BD shift means the employee has no firm end time and will be sent home when business slows down. You may also see this referred to as a "business decline shift" or "BD end time" in the schedule.
How BD shifts work
When you schedule an employee with a BD end time, for example 5:00 PM–BD, the employee sees they're working from 5:00 PM with no specified end time.
As an Admin or Manager, you still enter an estimated end time (for example, 10:00 PM) when creating the shift. This gives you an approximate labor cost for the shift (in this case, five hours), but that end time is not shown to the employee.
Important: You must enter a shift end time to get an approximate labor cost for a BD shift. Without an end time, 7shifts will not calculate labor cost.
Note: The shift end time is hidden from employees on the mobile app and the schedule view. Employees can still see the end time when viewing the Dashboard on a web browser.
