Shift Pool Settings Overview

Here’s an overview of the settings you can adjust to control shift management:

  • Shift Pool: This toggle enables or disables the 7shifts Shift Pool feature.
    • Enabled: Employees can use the Shift Pool to swap shifts with each other or pick up available shifts, providing flexibility in managing their work hours. They can offer their shifts when unavailable and take over shifts to gain more hours.
    • Disabled: Employees cannot offer their shifts to others. All shift swaps and changes must be communicated to and manually updated by management.
  • Require Approval: When enabled, this option requires manager approval for all shift trades and pickups before they are finalized. This ensures that schedule changes don't negatively impact operations and allows managers to maintain control over the schedule.
  • Partial Shifts: This setting allows employees to offer only a portion of their scheduled shift to other employees, rather than the entire shift. For example, an employee who can only work the first half of their shift can offer the remaining portion to another employee.
  • Account-wide Open Shifts: When enabled, this feature allows managers to offer Open Shifts to employees across all locations within the account. This is particularly useful for businesses with multiple locations, as it increases the pool of available employees to fill open shifts. Employees can bid on open shifts at any location they are assigned to.
