How to Bulk Assign Tasks To Employees in 7tasks

Task Tagging allows you to save time by quickly assigning multiple tasks to a specific employee. Whether you’re managing a long list of tasks or need to update existing assignments, Task Tagging can streamline your process.

In this article, you'll learn how to apply Task Tagging and the various ways to use the tool.

Prerequisites

⚠️ Managers/Assistant Managers require permission Can manage tasks create and edit task lists.

⚠️ Managers/Assistant Managers will have access to all task lists within their assigned Departments. This includes those for roles they are not assigned to.

⚠️ Tasks and Task lists can only be created and edited from the 7shifts web app.


Assign Multiple Tasks to an Employee 

  1. Log into the web app.

  2. Head to Tasks > Overview.

  3. Use the filters to narrow down your template list results by day and Location.

  4. Click on Tag Employees beside the task list:

  5. Next to Tag all tasks to, select an employee’s name from the dropdown menu.

    Scheduled and unscheduled employees will appear in the dropdown, but only one employee can be bulk-tagged at once.
     

  6. Click Save to complete these changes.

Options for Bulk Tagging Tasks

Depending on the current status of your Task List, you can use Task Tagging in different ways:

  • Tag All Unassigned Tasks
    If there are unassigned tasks in your list, simply select an employee from the dropdown. All unassigned tasks will then be tagged to this employee.



  • Tag Remaining Unassigned Tasks
    If some tasks have already been tagged to other employees, you can bulk assign the remaining unassigned tasks. Choose a new employee from the dropdown and confirm your choice:

  • Overwrite Existing Task Assignments
    If all tasks in your list have been previously assigned to other employees, you can overwrite these assignments. Select a new employee from the dropdown and confirm your changes:

    All tasks in the list will now be reassigned to the new employee:
