How to view W-4 Exempt Employees

A W-4 is a U.S. tax form that instructs employers on how much federal income tax to withhold from an employee's paycheck. Employees use the form to communicate their filing status, number of dependents, and any additional withholding preferences. This article overviews how employers can generate a report in 7shifts to view employees who have claimed W-4 exemptions.

⚠️ Note: This report is only available to Admin users in accounts that use 7shifts Payroll. It can only be accessed through the 7shifts web app.

Steps to Access the W-4 Exempt Employees Report:

  1. Log in to the web app as an Admin user.
  2. In the left navigation bar, head to Payroll > Tax.
  3. Under Year End, select W-2 Employees.
  4. Select the Actions dropdown menu.
  5. Click Download W-4 Exempt Employees Reports:

Tip: If you need a comprehensive view of your team's withholding elections instead of just exempt employees, use the Employee Withholdings & Exemptions report. It includes W-4 filing status, dependents, additional withholding amounts, and tax exemption elections for all W-2 employees.
