Time Clocking: Locking Timesheets and Pay Periods in 7shifts for Admins & Managers

Lock a pay period to add an extra level of data security and documentation! Before exporting labor data from 7shifts to payroll, a locked pay period can ensure:

  • Labor data does not change post-payroll
  • All paid wages are documented
  • Assistant managers/Managers cannot make changes to punches once payroll prep has been finalized

⚠️ Only Admins have access to lock and unlock a pay period.

⚠️  Locking Timesheets and Pay Periods are only available on the web app and require 7punches.

⚠️ Access to this feature may require an upgrade from your current plan. 


Lock a Pay Period

  1. Log into the web app as an Admin.

  2. Select the Time Clocking tab > click Review next to a pay period date:




  3. Close all your Timesheets. In the Locations dropdown menu > select All Locations > click Close all timesheets : 

  4. Select Lock Timesheet:


Unlock a Pay Period

  1. Login as an Admin.

  2. In the navigation bar, select the Time Clocking tab. Once on the Pay Period page, select Review next to a locked pay period:

     

  3. Select Unlock timesheet:

  4. Click Ok to acknowledge the warning (letting you know that Assistant Managers/Managers will now be able to reopen the timesheet and make edits):
